Nurisa Dian Ashrifah Interview: Archery Compound Women’s Individual Gold Medalist | Indonesia’s First Asian Games Gold in Archery, “Keep chasing your dream until it comes true” [Asian Games 2026]

On October 2, 2026, Nurisa Dian Ashrifah of Indonesia, who won the gold medal in the compound women’s individual archery event at the Asian Games, appeared at the Medalist Celebration at ONE ASIA WORLD in Hisaya-odori Park, Nagoya. Shachihoko News spoke with her in the media scrum after her stage appearance.

A 139–137 win after taking the final end from a tie: Indonesia’s first Asian Games gold medal in archery

The archery competition was held at Okazaki Central Park in Okazaki, Aichi Prefecture. Nurisa competed in the women’s individual event of the compound division, which uses a bow fitted with pulleys. She advanced from the qualification round on September 26 in 8th place with 701 points, won her second- and third-round matches on September 28, and in the quarterfinal on October 1 beat the top qualifier, from India, by a single point, 144–143. She then won her semifinal against an archer from South Korea, 147–143.

The final, against an archer from the Philippines, was tied at 110–110 after four ends. Nurisa took the final end 29–27 to win the gold medal, 139–137. It is the first time Indonesian archery has won a gold medal at the Asian Games.

Interview with Nurisa Dian Ashrifah: “Keep chasing your dream until it comes true”

Nurisa was born in 2005 and is 20 years old. She is from Semarang in Central Java, Indonesia, and is a university student studying management at Dian Nuswantoro University in her hometown. At the 2025 Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games), she won two gold medals and one bronze medal.

The interview was conducted through an Indonesian interpreter. Nurisa answered in Indonesian, and her words below are a translation by our editorial team.

— How did it feel to walk the runway today?

Nurisa: At first, I was really, really nervous. But once I was introduced and started walking, everyone was really, really excited. I was truly amazed by that energy.

— Could you give a message to children who are interested in archery?

Nurisa: Well… what I want to say is, “Keep working hard, and keep chasing your dream until it comes true.” Not only in archery: if you have a dream, it is important to work as hard as you can toward it.

Nurisa: Thank you for always giving me your prayers and support. Please pray that I can compete in the Olympics.

At 20, Nurisa has brought Indonesian archery its first Asian Games gold medal. She called on children to “keep chasing your dream until it comes true,” and named competing in the Olympics as her next goal.
